My family recently had the opportunity to view the very fun holiday show, "Eleanor's Very Merry Christmas Wish - The Musical." To say we enjoyed it would be an understatement. From the very merry sets to the creative and very festive characters, it was full on Christmas fun!

Escape the holiday madness and take a magical journey where delicious cookies, hot cocoa, and milk await your arrival from the North Pole to the Greenhouse Theatre Center in Chicago. Eleanor's Very Merry Christmas Wish is an old fashion Christmas story from page to stage brought to life with tons of glitter, glamour, sparkle, and shimmer. It is a refreshing new play by stage entertainer-turned-author and producer Denise McGowan Tracy.

Are you ready for another new Christmas musical about a toy? Well, even if you can’t imagine that there could be anything left to say about the subject in this year of toy-focused shows, you won’t be sorry if you check out Eleanor’s Very Merry Christmas Wish, by Denise McGowan Tracy with songs by the author and Kathleen Butler-Duplessis, at the Greenhouse Theater Center. This adorable little show, aimed at children but fine for the young at heart of all ages, will put a smile on your face and a song in your heart. It may also make you prone to writing cheesy lines like that one, but you won’t care because you’ll feel so warm inside.

So it should come as no surprise that Chicago’s Denise McGowan Tracy, the former entertainment director for Navy Pier and founder of DMT Entertainment, would write one too.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer's Dolly isn't the only rag doll hoping for a forever home. In Eleanor's Very Merry Christmas Wish, a new musical by Denise McGowan Tracy (based on her 2015 book) and composer Kathleen Butler-Duplessis and produced by Tracy, the title doll spends her days at the North Pole helping out by wrapping presents and making cookies but yearns for a friend who isn't an elf.

A set full of gift-wrapped boxes with bows bigger than an elf's head welcomes the audience to the newest performance treat of the holiday season. 

Every so often, we need a little Christmas in our lives. There are so many wonderful stories that grace our stages every year right about now, and for many, they ask “is that all there is?” Maybe some of us are getting tired of seeing the same shows every year. On the other hand, I for one, love some of the “Holiday Classics” ( but, after all, I have played Santa every year), but for the younger theater patrons, wouldn’t something new be exciting! Well, their wish has come true!
